Hey what’s SUP? Stand Up Paddleboarding…it’s our new favourite activity!

A few weeks ago we were pups on SUPs at the PUPS on SUPS 2019 Spring Launch.

This was our mum and dads first time trying stand up paddle boarding. They were a little nervous at first, but Mila and I were very excited and ran straight up to the boards.

Owner/operator of PUPS on SUPS Maree has been involved with the paddleboarding scene for some time, running SUP Tonic Australia, and decided to combine her passion for stand up paddle boarding with people’s passion for their pets.

With the aid of Tim, one of her trusty sidekicks, Maree made everyone feel comfortable and safe on the boards by being incredibly encouraging and helpful when showing the ropes (paddles).

After a paddle up and down the river, Mila and I then had a great time splashing around and playing with the other pups on the foreshore.

PUPS on SUPS sessions are held regularly along the beautiful Swan River in Bassendean and we’re now hooked – so you’ll find us there pretty much every week!

After a few more weekly sessions, mum and dad progressed from kneeling to standing up on the board and are now stand up paddleboarding like champions – and we love getting ferried along the river!

If you are looking for a fun activity to do with your pup, I suggest giving PUPS on SUPS a go. No experience is required and all friendly dogs are welcome – plus it’s a great way for you and your humans to get fit and meet new fur-ends!

Not just for small dogs like us, PUPS on SUPS is suitable for pups of all shapes and sizes. Although, if you’re not a very strong swimmer like me, a life-jacket is highly recommended.

PUPS on SUPS sessions are held every Sunday, weather permitting, usually from 9am to 12noon.

Visit the PUPS on SUPS links further below for more information as well as session times and days.

A big thank you to Veronica McPhail for the fantastic group photos of the PUPS on SUPS Spring Launch event.

We hope to see you down there for a splash and a paddle soon!

Cheerio, Archie
